Back pain significantly improves with combination of nutrient therapy and rehab treatments
Alpha Lipoic Acid and Gamma Linoleic Acid show promise in back pain.
Back pain has many different causes and one of them is called compressive radiculopathy. This is a painful syndrome in which the spinal nerve roots are being compressed. Alpha-lipoic Acid (ALA) has been studied in the use of pain symptoms from diabetic neuropathy. This study looks at the benefit of ALA in nerve pain from compressed nerves in the back, and if Gamma Linoleic Acid (GLA) could be of similar benefit. The treatment consisted of 600mg of ALA and 360mg of GLA during six weeks of rehabilitation treatments. The authors concluded that oral treatment with ALA and GLA for six weeks in conjunction with rehabilitation treatment significantly improved nerve pain and symptoms in patients with compressive radiculopathy. This was in comparison to a group that was just given the rehabilitation treatments for the 6 weeks.
This helps confirm my belief in the importance of combining nutrient therapies with physical therapies.
