Diabetes? We Can Help You With Whatever Your Goals Are!

Diabetes is when your body can not control the amount of sugar floating in your blood. There are two types of Diabetes and this page mainly speaks to Type 2 Diabetes.  The importance of uncontrolled blood sugar levels is that it leads to serious complications and even death if not treated appropriately.

Our Naturopathic Doctors have had great success in treating Diabetes. We have helped some people completely cure themselves of Type 2 Diabetes and others to manage their diabetes with minimal symptoms. Whatever your health goals are around diabetes we can help you.

Our clinic treats mainly Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus as 90% of all diabetes is type 2 DM. We have listed below the majority of different types of diabetes for your education but have specifically focused this page around type 2 diabetes mellitus. Please read through to gain a broader understanding of diabetes.

Known Causes / Etiologies of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus:

  • Thrifty Gene
  • Obesity
  • Nutrient Deficiencies
  • Lack of Exercise
  • Saturated Fat
  • Highly refined carbohydrates such as breads, pastas, pastries, etc.
  • Over-eating
  • Environmental Toxicities
  • Hormonal Imbalances

I have Diabetes Type 2, what will you do?

We treat each person as an individual who has been diagnosed with diabetes and as such we will make a tailored program to address what has caused diabetes in you.
1. we assess to know the root cause or your diabetes
2. we start you on a program that entails diet, exercise, and nutrient routines.
3. we assess results and follow up with hormone balancing and environmental toxicity removal.
For most early diagnosed cases this approach will do the trick. For more severe cases of diabetes or cases where someone is on insulin or another medication we will tailor the above approach as needed.

What signs and symptoms to look out for especially if you have a family history of type 2?

See below in the typical presentation of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus section.

Can I normalize my blood sugars once I have been diagnosed with Diabetes?

Blood sugars reflect diet, exercise, daily habits, nutrients, toxicities, etc… Therefore when these factors are changed and improved, the reflection in the blood sugar levels are seen. We have helped people normalize blood sugars on and off medications. Once you have been diagnosed the sooner you come to see us the better.  The longer the body has been in a diabetic state, the more work it will require to reverse the blood sugar imbalances.

If I am on insulin is it too late for me?

The management of someone with diabetes who is on insulin will show better results if it is combined or co-managed with natural medicine. Many people are able to decrease or get off insulin but this requires close care through this process and is not a guarantee. We have treated patients on and off insulin and in either case the outcomes are enhanced with natural diabetic treatments.

Stats on Diabetes

In 2000 there were 250 Million world wide diabetics (1) and in 2012 there are 371 Million (2). The interesting thing I found was that the chart from 2000 showed the 2025 prediction to be 380 million worldwide. So by 2012 we have already almost made it to the 2025 projections. This shows the rapid rate of increase in the condition.

One in four canadians are now diabetic – 90% have type 2 diabetes mellitus
